Frequently Asked Questions

StartupCell Aurangabad is an initiative at GEC Aurangabad, Bihar, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and business development among students and young professionals.

The Bihar Startup Policy provides funding in 3 stages:
1. Seed Fund – ₹4 Lakh after final selection & company registration.
2. Post-Seed Fund – ₹6 Lakh for startups showing potential growth.
3. Early Stage Fund – ₹15 Lakh for scaling successful startups.

To register a Private Limited Company, follow these steps:
1. Obtain Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) and Director Identification Number (DIN).
2. Apply for company name approval via the MCA portal.
3. File incorporation documents (SPICe+ form) with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
4. Obtain Certificate of Incorporation and PAN/TAN.
5. Open a bank account and start operations.

A Private Limited Company must have at least two directors, while a Public Limited Company must have a minimum of three directors.

A startup must meet the following criteria:
1. Must be certified under Bihar Startup Policy 2017/2022.
2. At least 3 months must have passed after receiving the ₹10L seed fund.
3. Turnover must be ₹25L (Product) or ₹20L (Service).
4. Must employ 5-10 people for at least 3 months.
5. Either founder or employee must have technical knowledge of the business.
6. Startup must have shown 20% growth in the previous financial year.

The loan is repaid in Equated Monthly Installments (EMI) over 5 years after a moratorium of 2 years. A 5% simple interest is charged on the loan amount.

A startup must have earned a turnover of ₹25 Lakhs for a product-based entity or ₹20 Lakhs for a service-based entity.

  • Audited Balance Sheet
  • GST (output) Return
  • CA Certified Turnover Certificate (for newly formed entities without GST registration)

The startup must employ 5 to 10 employees (permanent or consultants) working continuously for at least 3 months.
Required documents:
  • Bank Statement
  • Salary Slips highlighting payments to employees

At least one founder or employee must have:
  • Educational background or technical knowledge relevant to the business idea
  • Testing report or certification from an incubation center (for tech-based startups)

  • Existing startups must show a minimum 20% growth over the previous financial year.
  • Newly formed startups must meet the turnover requirement of ₹25 Lakhs (product) or ₹20 Lakhs (service).
Required documents:
  • GST Returns of the current financial year
  • CA Certified Turnover Certificate (for newly formed startups without GST registration)
